9th Planetary Crater Consortium Meeting

August 8-10, 2018

Southwest Research Institute, 1050 Walnut St. #300, Boulder, CO

Venue:

The 9th Planetary Crater Consortium (PCC) Meeting will be held at the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in downtown Boulder from Wednesday, August 8 through noon on Friday, August 10, 2018.  The meeting will include time for contributed oral and poster presentations and sufficient time for general discussion topics.  You do not have to present an oral or poster presentation in order to attend the meeting.

We strive to keep the PCC meetings informal and set aside much of the time for general discussion.  Dress is casual (as it is throughout Boulder), so leave the neckties and nylons at home--but don't forget your flannel! Weather in Boulder in early August is typically warm during the day (80's), cool at night (50's) and accompanied by an afternoon thunderstorm.

Registration:

There is no registration fee for the PCC meeting.  However, please email Nadine Barlow by August 1, 2018, to let us know if you will be attending so we can plan accordingly for refreshments, etc.

Abstracts:

All participants are strongly encouraged to submit an abstract to the meeting. ABSTRACT DEADLINE IS WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 1, 2018, 5:00 PM PDT/MST.  Abstracts should be 2-page, single-spaced, LPSC style format.  Please submit your abstract in PDF (preferred) or Microsoft Word format to Nadine Barlow.  Please indicate whether you are requesting an oral or a poster presentation, or if the abstract is "print only".  Abstracts will be posted on the PCC website by Monday, August 6, 2017.

Transportation:

The most convenient way to reach Boulder is by way of the Denver International Airport (DIA). DIA is a hub for Frontier, Southwest, and United Airlines and is also served by many other airlines. From DIA you can rent a car and make the ~1 hour drive to Boulder or you can use bus transportation and take the RTD Skyride AB from the airport to downtown Boulder for $9 one-way (also ~1 hour bus ride). If you choose not to rent a car, it is convenient to commute around Boulder and to SwRI via bus or rented bicyle

Parking near SWRI:

You will need to park in one of the nearby parking garages for the meeting. Boulder Downtown Parking can be found at https://bouldercolorado.gov/parking-services/downtown-parking-garages.  Parking fee is $1.25/hour, or $2.50 after four hours.  Unfortunately, Southwest Research Institute does not have the ability to validate nor provide discount parking for individuals.  Recommended parking locations are either the 10th & Walnut (St. Julien Hotel -- NOT Valet parking, just pull into the parking garage right next to it) or 11th & Walnut (Randolph Center).  Additional garages are more than 1–2 blocks away but still easily walkable.

Boulder also has a top-notch bus service, and the main bus terminal is located just a few blocks away from Southwest Research Institute.  Routes can be found at the RTD website (http://rtd-denver.com) and present an economical, reliable, if slightly less convenient alternative to driving and parking in downtown Boulder.  Bus service also goes between Boulder and the Denver International Airport, costing up to $9.00 one way, though discounted passes ("MyRide") are available from the RTD website.

Boulder:

Neslted into the base of the Rockies at an elevation of 5,430 feet, you'll find fun in Boulder no matter your interests. Go for a bike ride on the river path, head to Chautauqua for a hike, grab a beer at the local brewery, or retreat to a cozy bookstore and cafe along the Pearl Street Mall. Listed below are some of our favorite activities:
